The spirit of travel
At the edge of the Himalayas, Ladakh, this former Buddhist kingdom with arid mountains, offers a living lesson in environmental self-sufficiency. Despite material poverty, the inhabitants live in near self-reliance in their sun-dried mud brick houses, producing on-site fuel, dairy products, organic vegetables and barley. Protected from monsoon rains, the region is ideal in summer for trekking.
This family trip begins with a quiet arrival in Delhi, followed by an early morning flight to Leh flying over the snow-capped Himalayas. Five nights on site allow for good altitude acclimatization, punctuated by the discovery of the monasteries of the Indus valley, a visit to a Tibetan reception center and a rafting descent.
Next comes a five-day trek, with stages adapted for young children, through the mountains of Ladakh and meeting welcoming villagers. Crossing passes at 4,000 meters offers spectacular views of the Zanskar peaks, before the return flight.

Day-by-day itinerary

Flight Delhi - Leh
Hotel check-out and transfer to the airport to take the flight to Leh.
Upon arrival, we are transferred to the hotel. Free time for the rest of the day. Relaxation and acclimatization to the altitude (3,500 meters). In the late afternoon, a short orientation walk of Leh and its bazars. Previously, Leh was an important commercial center along the ancient Silk Road from China. The city is dominated by the Namgyal Palace, a nine-story building whose grandeur earns it a comparison with the Potala Palace in Lhassa.

Discovery of Leh
After breakfast, we start visiting the Thiksey Monastery which is a splendid gompa. This monastery is attached to Gelug Sect which belongs to Tibetan Buddhism, nestled on the summit of a hill in the village commonly called Thiksey which is approximately 20 Kms from Leh. To acclimatize well, we will go for a small walk of approximately 02-03 Kms and visit the Shey Monastery. Then, we visit the Shey Palace, located approximately 15 km south of Leh. It was the summer capital of Leh in the past. After the visit, we return to the hotel. The rest of the evening is free. Overnight at the hotel.

Visit Shanti Stupa and stroll around Gyamsa Village
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we depart to visit the Shanti Stupa which is located 1 km from the hotel. Upon arrival at the Stupa, we can enjoy a magnificent view of the Stok Kangri valley as well as the Zanskar Range. After completing our visit, we continue our walk before arriving at the Gyamsa village. We stop along the way for a lunch break. After our long walk and discovery of the village, we return to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. Overnight at the hotel.

Visit to Stok Palace and Tibetan Refugee Center
After breakfast at the hotel. Today we leave Leh to visit the Stok Palace, built in 1820 by Ladakhi craftsmen. This palace continues to be a residence of the Namgyal Dynasty. This dynasty was founded in the 10th century by Lhachen Palgygon. After completing our visit, we continue to visit the Tibetan refugee center located in Choglamsar. This center is run under the patronage of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. After completing the visit, we return to the hotel. Evening free. Night at the hotel.

Engage in rafting and head towards Alchi
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is an exciting day ahead with rafting on the program. Rafting begins at Chilling until Nimmu. (Note that rafting is not done on very turbulent water. We will continue this activity for 3 to 4 hours.) After lunch at Nimmu, we will continue to Alchi.
Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. The night is at the hotel.

Alchi - Yangthang

Yangthang - Hemis Shukpachan
After having breakfast, we continue our trek with a fairly short and easy day. We descend through the village of Hemis Shukpachen, before arriving at our camp, where the team is already waiting for us. Possibility to meet local populations. Night at camp.
Walking Time: 6-7 Hrs
Distance: 20 Kms

Hemis Shukpachan - Ang Tingmosgam
After having our breakfast, a long day of hiking awaits us. We cross the Meptek La and begin our descent towards the village of Ang Tingmosgaam which is the former capital of Ladakh. This place is home to ruined temples that are a must-visit.
Trekking Time: 4-5 Hrs

Teta - Skindiyang (The Last Day of the Trek)
Breakfast is served to us in the camp before we start our biggest day which will take us to the Village of Teta. Once reached, we must head towards the village of Skindyang. This trek is a decade-long hike. Night at camp.

Flight from Delhi and heading towards Agra

Agra Visit and Journey to Delhi
Today is the long-awaited day of visiting the Taj Mahal. We wake up early to discover this stunning marvel of white marble. The Taj Mahal, symbol of eternal love, is located on the south bank of the Yamuna River. It was built by the 5th Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in the 16th century. Subsequently, we visit the Fort Agra, a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. A work of art originally belonging to the Rajputs, which was renovated from time to time by different Mughal emperors with red sandstone, bricks and the beautiful Makarana marble.

The information below applies to travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Canada traveling to India for a tourist stay. Entry rules may evolve, so we recommend that you verify the information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport
To enter India, your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the country and contain at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn or altered pages).
Tourist Visa – e-Visa (Tourist eVisa)
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Canada must be in possession of a valid visa to enter India. There is no visa exemption for a tourist stay.
The most common solution is the Tourist eVisa, available online on the official Indian government portal. It is available for several durations:
Tourist eVisa 30 days (double entry),
Tourist eVisa 1 year (multiple entries, maximum stay of 90 days per visit),
Tourist eVisa 5 years (multiple entries, maximum stay of 90 days per visit).
The application must be submitted online at least 4 days before your arrival date and at most 120 days before. The eVisa is linked to your passport and is available only at certain designated airports and ports of entry.
Arrival and Immigration
When passing through immigration, Indian authorities may ask for:
confirmation of your eVisa (printed document or digital version),
an exit ticket from the territory (return flight or onward journey),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,
the address of your first accommodation in India.
Health and Vaccinations
No vaccine is officially mandatory to enter India from the EEA, Switzerland or Canada, except in the case of transit through a country at risk of yellow fever (a yellow fever vaccination certificate will then be required).
As a preventive measure, health authorities generally recommend the following vaccinations:
hepatitis A and hepatitis B,
typhoid,
tetanus-poliomyelitis,
rabies (depending on planned activities),
Japanese encephalitis (depending on regions and length of stay).
Antimalarial treatment may be recommended depending on the regions you visit and the time of year. Consult a doctor or international vaccination center before your departure.
Traveling with Children
Minors must be holders of their own valid passport and their own eVisa covering the duration of the stay.
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required according to the regulations of their country of residence.
Other Nationalities
Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the Indian embassy or consulate in their country of residence.
