The spirit of travel
This unmissable trek, a must-do experience, offers a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga (8 586 m), the world's third highest peak, which forms the "Sleeping Buddha", revered by local populations. You can distinguish, on the left, the profile of a man's head, hands clasped on the chest. From Delhi, we fly to Bagdogra, then travel by road to Darjeeling, a hilly town famous for its tea and its "toy train", the name given to its narrow-gauge railway. A two-night stay allows us to discover the surroundings before reaching the trek's starting point at Dhotrey. Gradually, we climb through the spectacular landscapes of the Singalila ridge. Overlooking the valleys and crossing forests of rhododendrons and magnolias, we are rewarded with an exceptional Himalayan panorama at Sandakphu (3 636 m), the trek's highest point. Starting point where Kangchenjunga (8 586 m) awaits us. Further on stand three other of the world's five highest peaks: Everest (8 848 m), Lhotse (8 512 m) and Makalu (8 462 m). We cross welcoming villages, discovering local life and culture, following ancient trails on this magnificent loop trek. After descending via Samaden and Rimbick, important Sherpa villages, we reach Kalimpong and its bustling bazaars by road, where our trek comes to an end.
The stages of your journey
Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Flight to Bagdogra and heading to Darjeeling
Today, we will be transferred to the airport to board our flight to Bagdogra.
Upon arrival at Bagdogra, we cross jungles, tea plantations and charming hillside villages to reach the magnificent Darjeeling. The contrast is striking between the heat and humidity of Delhi and the serene coolness of this city. The road winds through the hills passing through Kurseong (1 458 m), a village whose name comes from the Lepcha word for a small white orchid that grows abundantly in the region. Surrounded by tea plantations, it is the southern terminus of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway steam trains. The last 32 kilometres of our itinerary follow the tracks of the famous Toy Train, which was once the main means of transport to this renowned mountain station. We arrive at Darjeeling and settle into the hotel.
The rest of the day is free.

Exploration of Darjeeling
After breakfast, we set off to discover the attractions of Darjeeling and its surroundings. We visit the Ghum Monastery, which houses a large golden statue of Buddha Maitreya. Also on the program: a visit to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), which has a superb collection of souvenirs from the early exploration of Everest. Just next to the HMI is Darjeeling Zoo, where red pandas and snow leopards are the stars. Later, we visit the Tibetan Refugee Center, where you can find local crafts at interesting prices. In the evening, we have free time to stroll through the many colorful bazaars of Darjeeling.

Route to Dhotrey and Hiking to Tonglu
Dhotrey is a picturesque village from which a wide trail departs, crossing rhododendron forests and meadows offering superb views of the Kangchenjunga. You will meet the villagers there. Continuing our hike towards the ridge, we arrive at the spectacular small village of Tonglu (3 036 m), which overlooks the Singalila ridge and the Kangchenjunga.
Hiking duration: 3 h
Distance: 5 km
Trekking to Kalipokhri (3186m)
After breakfast, we leave Tonglu by a wide easy trail that descends towards Tumling. The descent continues gently into Nepal, where we cross the picturesque village of Jaubari. We follow the ridge offering exceptional panoramas of India and Nepal. We continue our descent to the village of Gairibas, at 2 538 m altitude, from where we begin a slight ascent towards Kanya Katta, then Kalipokhri. The stages are relatively short in order to acclimatize before reaching Sandakphu.
Trek duration : 6 h
Distance : 15 km

Trekking to Sandakhphu (3636m)
Today, we begin a long ascent to the Singalila Ridge. Leaving the camp, we can already estimate the distance ahead of us. We start with a gradual climb to Bikhebhanjyang, passing through forests of rhododendrons and magnolias, with the possibility of observing a wide variety of birds. From there, the trail climbs steadily to Sandakphu, the highest point of our trek. The view there is absolutely breathtaking: the imposing slopes of Kangchenjunga rise before us, and Everest, Lhotse and Makalu reveal themselves on the horizon. The rest of the day is free to explore other viewpoints and acclimatize to the thinner air and cool surroundings.
Trek duration: 3 to 4 hours
Distance: 6 km
Trekking to Sabargam (3425m)
Today, we spend a short day on this spectacular stretch of the Singalila ridge, on the border between Nepal and India. We walk alternately from one country to the other over a long distance. The trail winds along the ridge through forests of chestnut, oak and silver fir trees, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalaya throughout the day. This evening, we camp in an exceptional wild setting at Sabargam, where the sunsets and sunrises over Kangchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu are absolutely stunning.
In the evening, we enjoy the panorama and admire the landscape.
Trek duration : 6 h
Distance : 17 km
Trekking to Samaden (2480m)
In the morning, we set off early as the day is long. We walk to the end of the ridge at Phalut (3 600 m), from where we continue north to the summit of Singalila Peak (3 695 m), adorned with a prayer flag.
From there, after admiring the breathtaking view of the Kangchenjunga, we catch sight of the Sikkim border which meets the ridge at Chiwabhanjang. We retrace our steps to Phalut and continue our descent to Samaden. The trail is magnificent and takes us through forests of oak, conifers, pines and rhododendrons. This evening, we camp in the charming village of Samaden (2 480 m), a small village offering exceptional panoramas.
Hiking duration: 7 hours
Distance: 14 km
Trekking to Rimbick (2286m)
Today is the last day of our trek. The trail winds through small Rai, Sherpa and Tamang villages. We traverse rich agricultural lands to the village of Ramman, then descend to Srikhola where we cross a suspension bridge. We continue our route through other villages to Rimbick(2 286 m), a large Sherpa village nestled in the heart of the forests of the Singalila National Park. Most of today's trek is downhill and ends at the village of Rimbick.
Trek duration : 6 h
Distance : 16 km

Route to Kalimpong
In the morning, we say goodbye to our support team and take to the road for the long journey to Kalimpong. We leave Sikkim at Rangpo and cross the wild Teesta Valley. Kalimpong was once an important trading center, strategically located at the crossroads of Sikkim, Bhutan, Tibet and the Bengal plains. Today, one of the city's main commercial activities is flower cultivation in vast nurseries.
Upon our arrival, we visit the most important Hindu temple.

Kalimpong Tour
Today, you have a free day to explore Kalimpong. The day starts with a sunrise over the Kangchenjunga (weather permitting). In the morning, a short excursion will allow you to visit the Durpin Monastery, a paper factory, flower and cactus nurseries, as well as a fascinating Catholic church built in the style of a Tibetan monastery.
The afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel, with the option to explore the bustling bazaar in the evening.

The information below applies to travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Canada traveling to India for a tourist stay. Entry rules may evolve, so we recommend that you verify the information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport
To enter India, your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the country and contain at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn or altered pages).
Tourist Visa – e-Visa (Tourist eVisa)
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland and Canada must be in possession of a valid visa to enter India. There is no visa exemption for a tourist stay.
The most common solution is the Tourist eVisa, available online on the official Indian government portal. It is available for several durations:
Tourist eVisa 30 days (double entry),
Tourist eVisa 1 year (multiple entries, maximum stay of 90 days per visit),
Tourist eVisa 5 years (multiple entries, maximum stay of 90 days per visit).
The application must be submitted online at least 4 days before your arrival date and at most 120 days before. The eVisa is linked to your passport and is available only at certain designated airports and ports of entry.
Arrival and Immigration
When passing through immigration, Indian authorities may ask for:
confirmation of your eVisa (printed document or digital version),
an exit ticket from the territory (return flight or onward journey),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,
the address of your first accommodation in India.
Health and Vaccinations
No vaccine is officially mandatory to enter India from the EEA, Switzerland or Canada, except in the case of transit through a country at risk of yellow fever (a yellow fever vaccination certificate will then be required).
As a preventive measure, health authorities generally recommend the following vaccinations:
hepatitis A and hepatitis B,
typhoid,
tetanus-poliomyelitis,
rabies (depending on planned activities),
Japanese encephalitis (depending on regions and length of stay).
Antimalarial treatment may be recommended depending on the regions you visit and the time of year. Consult a doctor or international vaccination center before your departure.
Traveling with Children
Minors must be holders of their own valid passport and their own eVisa covering the duration of the stay.
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required according to the regulations of their country of residence.
Other Nationalities
Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the Indian embassy or consulate in their country of residence.
