A visa is mandatory for traveling to India regardless of the purpose of your stay.

To enter Indian territory, you will need a valid passport that remains valid for at least 6 months after your return and, of course, a visa covering the entirety of your trip to India.

It's also worth noting that the Indian Embassy does not issue visas and may not always be able to provide you with concrete information. The sole authorized body for issuing Indian visas is VFS. Their website, which is comprehensive and available in French, outlines the complete procedure as well as the visa fee.

E-tourist Visa

The Indian visa application is submitted online through the VFS website.

You must first visit the VFS website and complete an online E-tourist visa application form. Consular fees are also paid online through the VFS website.

The digital form is written in English. VFS provides a guide in French in .pdf format to help you understand each section. By carefully following this guide, you will be able to complete your form. You will then receive, by email, a document to print and present upon arrival at the airport to obtain your final visa.

At the airport, E-tourist visa counters are available to facilitate this final step.

For a stay of a maximum of 60 days, a double-entry visa can be obtained directly at your arrival airport in India.

For a stay lasting more than 60 days, the visa must be obtained before your departure from France. In this case, you will need to send or submit your passport to the VFS offices in Paris.
