Have you ever dreamed of bathing an elephant? Elephant bathing is one of Kerala's most captivating activities at the Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary, 42 km from Kochi.

Elephants are an indispensable element of Indian mythology and culture. In Kerala, elephants are often called the sons of Sahya (the Western Ghats). They are the most revered creatures in the land of God, as no festival or celebration is complete without the sacred procession of these magnificent animals. There is an event held every year in Kerala, where beautifully adorned elephants, draped in colorful silk parasols, parade throughout the celebration.

You'll have the chance to participate in numerous thrilling activities within the sanctuary, including elephant bathing, elephant safaris, elephant feeding, and observing baby elephants.

The Kodanad Elephant Training Centre, recently relocated to Abhayaranyam in Kaprikkad (approximately 3 km from Kodanad), sits on the south banks of the Periyar River, surrounded by stunning mountains near Perumbavoor.
