FAQ: Questions About India
We aim to address the most frequently asked questions our clients have when planning their trip to India. We'll continue to update this FAQ as we receive new recurring questions throughout the seasons.
How much luggage are we allowed to carry on domestic flights and trains?
Domestic flights: 15 kg in hold and 7 kg in cabin. You'll be charged a modest fee at check-in for any excess kilograms.
Train: no luggage restrictions.
Is it possible to request a destination not listed on the website?
If you wish to visit a destination not included in our proposed itineraries, don't hesitate to ask Active India Holidays. We can tailor your program according to your request, subject to availability.
Will I be part of a group during my trip?
You have two options:
- We offer departures on fixed dates that you can join. Ideal if you're traveling solo or with others.
- From two participants onwards, we create a program based on your personalized request.
For more details, please consult our terms and conditions of sale.
What personalizations can I request from my local expert?
Almost anything! It's essential to clearly express your wishes so the expert can meet your expectations. Personalizations typically concern the itinerary, accommodations, transportation, or activities. However, you can also express more personal preferences for a honeymoon, a "sporting" circuit, or opportunities to meet local communities, for example.
What is the timeframe needed to book my custom-made trip?
There is no fixed deadline. It can be very quick and depends mainly on you and the time you need to "approve" the proposal. If the itinerary proposed to you is satisfactory right away, a few days are sufficient to book your trip. However, the earlier you book, the better your chances of securing your preferred accommodations and services. Indians travel extensively to discover their country, so demand can be high, especially during the summer season.
Are flights included in the package?
No, international flights are never included in the package. You'll easily find very competitive prices online, and our practical information guides you to airlines serving your destination. Any domestic flights within your trip can be booked by us upon request.
How does the booking process work?
Once you've selected the final itinerary proposed by Active India Holidays, you'll need to confirm your trip.
Registration: You must complete and return a registration form and provide us with a 25% deposit of the total cost of your trip.
Booking: Upon receipt of the registration form and deposit, Active India Holidays will proceed with all necessary reservations (domestic flights, ground transportation, accommodation, guides).
Travel documents: Once all reservations are confirmed, you'll receive your itemized invoice and final technical sheet.
Trip balance: This is due 30 days before departure. If you've paid by credit card, it will be automatically debited.
Welcome: Upon your arrival in India, you'll be greeted by your guide or an Active India Holiday representative who will provide you with additional travel documents (tickets for any domestic flights, vouchers for accommodations and/or activities).
Trip evaluation: At the end of your stay, you'll have the opportunity to share your feedback. We'll send you a satisfaction questionnaire by email that you simply need to return to us.
Should I purchase travel insurance?
Yes, you should purchase insurance and assistance coverage before departure, as they can prove valuable. Active India Holidays will ask you to provide, upon arrival, the name of your insurance provider, the policy number, and contact phone number in case of emergency.
Do I need to bring an adapter for electrical outlets in India?
You don't need to bring an adapter except for trips to remote regions like Odisha or the Himalaya. Electrical outlets are standard 220V plugs.
Will we have wifi in all hotels?
Most hotels offer free wifi, though some may charge a small fee for usage. Since connections aren't always stable or high-speed, access may not be available in rooms, in which case you'll need to go to the lobby to connect.
How do I choose a good restaurant during my stay in India?
You can always rely on your driver or local guide to help you choose a good restaurant. They'll be happy to recommend restaurants that suit your tastes and preferences. If you prefer not to go out one evening, hotels often have restaurants with a wide selection of specialties where you can dine without any issues.
