A restored heritage property in the village of Bhandarej, Rajasthan, Hotel Bhandrawati Palace retains its Rajputana architecture and offers 70 rooms within a historic setting. The property blends traditional Rajasthani décor with evening cultural programming.

Why stay at Bhandrawati Palace

The palace is rooted in ancient history: Chief Kachawa Dhula Rao Saheb defeated the Badgujars and conquered Bhandarej, establishing here the lineage that would found the stronghold. The current building, listed as heritage and restored, perpetuates this Rajput legacy through its architecture and ambiance.

Three elements distinguish this property:

• a Rajputana architectural character visible in facades, vaults and furnishings;
• substantial capacity (70 rooms) making it suited to both group tours and individual travelers;
• daily evening cultural programming integrated into the hotel's offering.

The ensemble fits the heritage hotel category: modern comfort is housed within a restored structure, without pursuing luxury palace positioning.

Ambiance and architecture

Bhandrawati Palace cultivates Rajputana aesthetics—carved arcades, wall motifs, worked wooden furnishings. The restoration prioritized preserving original character over modernization. Common areas, inner courtyards and reception rooms retain the atmosphere of rural Rajasthan's noble residences.

In the evening, the property offers cultural programming featuring fire dancing, traditional puppet theater and fireworks depending on the night. These animations, common among Rajasthan's heritage hotels, extend the heritage experience beyond the simple overnight stay.

Guest rooms

The hotel features 70 rooms divided into three categories:

• 35 Double Rooms — the most prevalent category, standard format for two guests;
• 10 Deluxe Rooms — superior category;
• 25 Standard Rooms — more modest option.

Each room carries Rajasthani-inspired décor, with furnishings and textiles recalling the region's heritage. Room volumes and amenity levels vary by category.

Dining and services

The Sheesh Mahal restaurant serves as the dining hub. Its menu spans four cuisines: Indian, Rajasthani specialties, Chinese and continental dishes. The setting, in keeping with Rajputana tradition, suits both individual diners and group meals.

Evening cultural programming (music, dance, puppet theater) accompanies dinners according to the hotel's calendar. The property offers standard services expected of a heritage hotel this size: front desk, dining, common areas and on-site entertainment coordination.

Location

Bhandrawati Palace is located in Bhandarej, in Dausa district, Rajasthan. The village sits on the road connecting Jaipur to Agra, making it a logical stopover for Golden Triangle itineraries wishing to avoid major cities overnight. Count approximately 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Jaipur depending on traffic conditions.

The immediate environment is rural: Bhandarej village, its ancient ruins and the Dausa countryside offer marked contrast to neighboring urban stops.

Nearby attractions

Bhandarej functions as a stopover base rather than an activity hub. Travelers typically continue toward:

• Jaipur and its palaces to the west;
• Abhaneri and its stepwell (Chand Baori), a short distance away;
• Fatehpur Sikri and Agra to the east, on the same route.

For subsequent stops, several properties can complement a Rajasthan circuit: Ranthambore Heritage Haveli near Sawai Madhopur, Woodville Palace Hotel in Shimla, or more contemporary options like Velvet Clarks Exotica and Red Earth depending on your itinerary.
